Music Committee

Purpose

To ensure that the music programs and activities of UUCB enhance the mission and vision of the entire church community.

Charge

1. To provide support and guidance to the professional music staff in their work.
2. To develop policies regarding musical issues to be submitted to the UUCB Board of trustees for final approval.  Examples of such policies may be:  recruitment and payment of musicians for worship services; use of church-owned instruments, etc.
3. Consult with the Minister, Personnel and Finance Committees regarding job descriptions, schedules, etc. for music program staff.
4. Work with church personnel (Music staff, Minister, RE Director) to support musical activities for all members of the church community, and to encourage intergenerational endeavors.
5. Coordinate with Committees planning musical activities to provide support, consultation, and to ensure that such activities are consistent with the mission and vision of the church.
6. To be the “go-to” body for individuals or groups in the church community with ideas or proposals for church sponsored musical activities (e.g., Concert series, new musical group).
7. In coordination with the Worship Committee, to ensure that musicians required for all church services are scheduled well in advance.
