Dear Beloved UUCB Community,
This year, we are celebrating 10 years in our new building! And UUCB is still building …
Through the uncertainty of a fire and a pandemic, incredibly, we grew! This is visible every Sunday when nearly every seat is filled, Religious Exploration is expanding, and we engage with our community in a multitude of meaningful ways. We are a healthy congregation that not only believes in our mission but lives its mission. We have much to celebrate, and so our story continues …
At the heart of our community is our beloved staff: Kharma, our Minister; Toben, our Director of Religious Exploration; Will, our Director of Music; Shirley, our Office Administrator; and Tony and Mary, our Sextons. This small but mighty staff supports our congregation in many ways. In addition to all that goes into each Sunday service, they support our many church committees, and any extra event, large or small, that comes along the way. Quite simply, our staff is how we are able to achieve so much good and reach our many goals.
We are a growing community and to continue this work, we need your support. Our pledges are how we support our staff and our building in an ever more expensive world. This year we must raise $300,000 for our annual pledge drive. Additionally, we are looking to increase our fundraising by $40,000 for each of the next three years; this heart gift will be used to expand our Religious Exploration offerings to everyone at UUCB and could include adult RE classes, hosting regional RE events at UUCB, expanding RE staffing, and enhancing the RE website, technology, library and curriculum.
We are a generous community. We give each week to our church and the wider community. We sit on committees, volunteer, perform, coordinate, teach, give tech support, cook, donate, fundraise, etc. It’s amazing! More impressively, over 80% of our beloved congregation gives to the annual fund. As our cost of operations continues to rise and our programs expand, we ask you to please consider making a 10% increase to your pledge along with an additional heart gift for RE for each of the next three years. Our goals are reachable. We hope that every member and friend of UUCB will pledge from the heart and help UUCB continue to build over the next ten years!

Step 2: How to Pay
(July 2024-June 2025)
- Direct Bank Withdrawal: Make a one-time or recurring payment via the “Bill Pay” option on your bank’s website
- RMD (QCD) Payment: Use your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) by having your brokerage company send your pledge amount directly to UUCB as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) (Bonus: For tax purposes, a QCD counts towards your RMD but not your income)
- Cash or Check: Write your name and “2024/25 Pledge” on an envelope and deliver via offertory plate, administrator, or postal mail: UUCB, P.O. Box 129, Brunswick, ME 04011
- Online Giving: Make a one-time or recurring payment: uubrunswick.org website “Donate Online” link ((Note: a processing fee applies)
