Covid-19 Update

REOPENING UPDATE 12/16/21

The Covid Response Team met on 12/14/21 and developed the following updated guidelines:

Sanctuary Services

  • Live musical performance by a single wind instrument and/or 2 unmasked singers at least 10 feet apart on the chancel, well away from any congregants, will be permitted.
  • All congregants will wear masks and have their contact information recorded for contact tracing.
  • There will be no food/coffee after the service.
  • The sanctuary is set up with 80 chairs, 20 additional chairs can be provided in fellowship hall
  • Chairs with arms to be used only by people who need the support of arms.
  • Holiday Service: We will have a single service at 5:00 p.m. The choir will sing live, masked for the Holiday service and going forward.

Other Group Meetings

  • Contact lists will be maintained for all group meetings.
  • If a COVID case is traced to UUCB we will follow CDC procedures. Rev. Justine and Bill Clark will make ad hoc decision and follow up with a Task Force meeting for a “final” decision.
  • Vaccinated UUCB congregants may meet in the building under the following conditions:
      1. The choir, wearing masks, may practice inside.
      2. Up to two meetings per day in each of the May Sarton Room, Merry Meeting Bay room (not to exceed 10 people) and Sanctuary with two hours between each meeting will be considered. Information will be gathered on actual use; and reviewed by the Task Force. (In particular, UUCB Board may meet in MSR). As of 12/12, few mtgs have been/are scheduled.
      3. Ministerial Search Committee meetings will be given priority.
      4. Seats will be spaced 6 feet apart (or family pods). All participants will be masked.
      5. Meetings must be scheduled in advance, either through the Church Administrator or the Interim Minister in her absence. There will be no ad hoc spontaneous meetings.
      6. Group leaders will generate contact lists, which will be stored by the church administrator.
      7. With the exception of a previously approved agreement providing space for Thursday afternoon Hebrew school, non-UUCB groups will not be allowed to use the building.
  • Air Purifiers: UUCB has 3 Air Purifiers, and they should be used for all meetings in the Merry Meeting Bay and May Sarton rooms. These can be moved to other spaces if needed, but will generally be left in place—one in May Sarton and two in Merry Meeting Bay. Directions to override thermostats are now posted.
  • Religious Exploration
    1. RE Director currently anticipates 2 Sunday meetings per month—outdoors if warm and dry; otherwise indoors in RE space with contact list, masks, spacing, ventilation, air purifiers in place.
    2. Consider allowing youngsters to attend regular service with parent/guardian.
  • Concerts
    1. For attendees and for musicians, proof of vaccination or recent negative test and information for contact list will be required. Masks will be required except when musicians are playing/singing onstage.
    2. For CD/paraphernalia sales masks are required and crowding at sales table should be minimized.
    3. Food for musicians can be re-heated in Kitchen, but will be eaten on paper plates, using paper cups for liquids, disposable utensils, in MMB room, distancing.
