What We Learn

2026–27 Children’s Spiritual Formation

This church year, all of our Children’s Spiritual Formation groups will be piloting the new UUA Woven Faith curriculum. Woven Faith is a new, multigenerational approach to faith development from the Unitarian Universalist Association that invites children to explore what it means to live our UU values through stories, activities, reflection, and community.

Each age group will use Woven Faith in ways that are developmentally appropriate for their group while sharing a common framework and language across the program.

The Groups are organized by grades.

Red Group (Nursery):   Below Preschool Age
Orange Group: Preschool- 1st Grade
Yellow Group: 2nd- 4th Grade
Green Group: 5th- 7th Grade
Blue Group (Youth Group):  8th- 12th Grade

Children’s Chapel: Rings of Love

On the last Sunday of most months, all of our children will come together as one large group for Children’s Chapel. These gatherings will give us an opportunity to build community across age groups and explore our faith together.

This year, Children’s Chapel will center around the Rings of Love, a series of lessons from the UUA’s common read, Love at the Center. The Rings of Love invite children to explore the many ways love is present in our lives and communities:

  • Love Within Me — exploring love within ourselves
  • Love Between Us — exploring love in our relationships with one another
  • Love Among Us — exploring love within our communities
  • Love Beyond Us — exploring love that reaches beyond our immediate communities
  • Love That Holds Us — exploring the love and connections that hold us together

Together, these lessons will help children explore love as a spiritual practice and as a way of living our Unitarian Universalist values.

Who Leads the CSF Meetings

Our CSF meeting leaders are UUCB volunteers that have been recruited, vetted, and supported by the Lifelong Spiritual Formation Director and the Children’s Spiritual Formation Committee. They come from a variety of educational, spiritual, and social backgrounds. You are welcome to meet them before or after services to learn more about them. Parents and caregivers are always welcome to join their children in their CSF Meetings!
