Purpose
The Ushers and Greeters Committee welcomes members and newcomers into the sanctuary and ensures that worship services run smoothly.
Charge
Ushers and greeters welcome congregants at the front door, help those who need assistance, guide newcomers to the Visitor’s Table or the Religious Education greeter, hand out orders of worship and hymnals, direct people with babies to the Nursery, take the offering, count attendance, collect unused orders of worship for recycling and reshelf the hymnals. Ushers and greeters are prepared to help handle disturbances.
The coordinator recruits and trains volunteers, defines and drafts usher and greeter duties, schedules two ushers and two greeters from September to June, plus Christmas Eve, and one usher and greeter for each summer service. The coordinator also sends out reminders to volunteers a few days ahead of their service date, and lines up substitutes when necessary.
