They quickly became one of the favorite ban ds in Portland\, and soon were playing all over the country and the Britis h Isles. When Tom Rowe died in 2004\, Chuck and Steve continued playing as a duo and are still entertaining at many Maine venues such as the Chocola te Church in Bath and were invited to play with the Portland Symphony Orch estra\n\nSchooner Fare has won unanimous critical praise for captivating h armonies and winning stage presence. In addition to their numerous origina l songs on both contemporary and traditional themes\, the band also writes and performs topical songs\, country ballads and maritime masterpieces th at have made their name synonymous with the “Down East” style.\n\nComb ining their talents on six-string guitars\, twelve-string guitars and banj os\, Schooner Fare’s distinctive vocal and instrumental arrangements hav e been hailed by such folk music icons as the Kingston Trio\, the Limelite rs\, the Chad Mitchell Trio\, the Clancy Brothers\, Tommy Makem and Tom Pa xton. Schooner Fare’s many recordings receive radio play on four contine nts and world-wide on satellite radio.
